John saw Jesus coming toward him and said:
"Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! He is the one I told you about when I said, 'Someone else will come. He is greater than I am, because he was alive before I was born.'
"I didn't know who he was. But I came to baptise you with water, so that everyone in Israel would see him.
"I was there and saw the Spirit come down on him like a dove from heaven. And the Spirit stayed on him. Before this I didn't know who he was. But the one who sent me to baptise with water had told me, 'You will see the Spirit come down and stay on someone.
Then you will know that he is the one who will baptise with the Holy Spirit.'
"I saw this happen, and I tell you that he is the Son of God”
John 1:29-34

John the Baptist was a prophet, he had a special job to tell people that the Messiah, Jesus was coming. But when Jesus was there, his job wasn't over, he still told people all about Jesus.
John told the people about what he had seen Jesus do and his work helped to spread the Good News, that Jesus is here for us.
The job of sharing the Good News isn't just the job of prophets like John the Baptist, or our priests or teachers. It's everyone's job!
You can share the Good News by telling other people what you know about Jesus and by telling everyone how much Jesus loves them.
Share a story from your own life about at time you felt close to Jesus or learnt something special about Jesus and shared that story with someone else.

Todays message is all about sharing the Good News is, today when we want to find the news we often read the paper or watch the news on TV.
In this activity the children will create a news program, with stories all about Jesus. Talk to the children about what roles they want to do, and the stories they can tell. Below we have listed a program outline that may be helpful.
See the PDF for activity breakdown and script

In Ignatian prayer, we are encouraged to put ourselves in the gospel stories to help us understand whats happening. In this prayer, we'll ask the children to draw themselves in a story with Jesus and ask them to write what they think Jesus would say to them.
Ask the children to draw a picture of one of their favourite stories of Jesus but ask them to put themselves in the picture too. If they are old enough ask them to add speech bubbles and ask what Jesus would say to them and what they would say to Jesus.
